Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas staff extends warmest wishes for a blessed preparation experience as couples begin the planning process of entering into a sacramental union. Our marriage policies reflect pastoral concern and deep appreciation for the sanctity of a lifetime commitment.

Marriage

Couples interested in the Sacrament of Marriage needs to meet with the Shrine Chaplain six months in advance to the planned wedding ceremony. Contact our office for more information.

General Information

Diocesan norms require that at least one of the parties be Roman Catholic and that 6 months be allowed for preparing for the sacrament of marriage. This entails that the priest or deacon has established your “freedom to marry” and created a preparation plan at least 6 months prior to a date being confirmed.

In the instance of any prior marriages of either party, it will not be possible to set a date until a Nullity Decree is attained through the appropriate diocese. Reverend Father O’Connor or Deacon Miguel Fabian can answer any questions regarding the preparation plan.
